Bernard's Watch

Remember this childhood classic?

Well sit tight, cause I have some things to say about Bernard and his watch!!! 👀

If you are unfamiliar, Bernard’s Watch was a 90’s children’s TV show about a young boy called Bernard who was always late, until a postman gave him a "magic watch" which could stop and rewind time. ⏱

And I’m going to risk getting cancelled here but it needs to be said… Bernard didn’t deserve that magic watch because he did naff all to help with it!! 🙅🏼‍♀️

An excellent example - One day Bernard’s family home was getting robbed. But luckily Bernard and his watch were there to save the day. What did he do I hear you ask?

Find somewhere safe to hide?

Run for help?

Call the police?

Nope. But really close… Bernard decided to use his watch to pause time and start moving garden gnomes around the house to try and scare the robbers away instead.

Nice one, Bernard! 🤷🏼‍♀️

(Stay with me here…)

Now the reason Bernard never used his gift wisely was because he was never taught the values of ownership. Instead of owning the fact he was always late and learning how to put systems in place to improve his timekeeping, he was just given a magical watch instead.

He never knew how to use it properly because he didn’t appreciate its value. He was given the gift of time and yet he never took the time to do things properly.

And the irony is, if he had taken responsibility and learnt from his actions, then he wouldn’t have always felt the need to go back in time to fix his mistakes.

Your health is the real life equivalent of Bernard’s watch.

Your health is a gift. You are the owner. Use it wisely. Take the time to learn how to take care of it properly moving forward and you’ll never need a watch to go backwards.

Big love, Meg 💛✨
